What are segments?

Segment analysis allows analysts to drill down into the data for specific user groups. This is a powerful way to group your users into smaller sub-groups, known as cohorts, and focus your analysis on those groups.

Segment are great for removing “noise” from your data, simply excluding that data which is not important for your analysis needs. Segment can be as general or highly targeted as you like.

Lets look as an example…

If your goal is to identify users who have experienced errors, then you can create a segment which focuses purely on those that have experienced an error. Any users who did not experience an error, will be excluded from the segment automatically.
